The mission of the nonprofit organization, New Approach, Inc. is to promote emerging artists and curators, as well as to encourage public awareness and exposure to unconventional medallic art.

New Approach, Inc. is a not-for-profit arts organization.
New Approach, Inc. was established by Mashiko Nakashima, who is also the founder and director of the Medialia ... Rack and Hamper Gallery, located in the former Garment District of New York City.

The genesis of the non-profit organization New Approach began in 1998 with a joint medallic arts exhibition of students from Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa, and the The University of the Arts, Philadelphia. This collaborative exhibition began at Medialia, then traveled to both schools in Pennsylvania and Lisbon, Portugal, respectively. Subsequently, this project, titled New Ideas In Medallic Sculpture, has evolved into an annual three-university exhibition hosted by The University of the Arts and Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa.
