Robert
Donahue was born in 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts. He studied
painting at Massachusetts Collage of Art in Boston, and Pratt
Institute, Brooklyn, New York. His work has been exhibited in
numerous one-person and group exhibitions in New York, as well
as nationally and internationally.
Donahue's work is not limited to the flat surface. He periodically constructs three-dimensional objects in various materials, such as wood, aluminum, wax, as well as cast bronze from wax work. Donahue often finishes three-dimensional work with a painted surface. Occasionally, the objects become a still-life for a two-dimensional series. The drawings in this one-person show is from one of such series. The drawings from the mid-1990'¹s are mostly done from the observation of objects which Donahue constructed from wax. Many of the drawings appear to be devoid of gravity, and images are propelled through the air as if in flight. This is his first one-person exhibition at Medialia ... Rack and Hamper Gallery. |
