Since childhood Kazuhiro Adachi has been exposed to various cultures which ingrained in him both rich and varied experiences. He was born in Australia in 1977. Adachi spent his life moving with family between Japan and Australia, also residing in Bahrain for several years, before he chose to remain in the United States in 1995.

In 2000, Adachi graduated from the University of the Pacific, Stockton, California, where he studied ceramics and sculpture. In the summer of 2000 he apprenticed at the Marble Carving Workshop in Pietrasanta, Italy. He continued his studies at New York Academy in New York City where he received a Masters Degree in Drawing in 2004. He currently lives and works in New York.

Adachi has exhibited drawings in group exhibitions at Medialia Gallery, New York, since 2004. He was awarded the CAST BRONZE AWARD at the FIRST INTERNATIONAL MEDALLIC SCULPTURE COMPETITION FOR EMERGING ARTISTS sponsored by New Approach, Inc.

Adachi says about his work in this exhibition:

This new series of drawings evolved from the pursuit of my interest in seeing realistic and meaningful existence in simple objects. I wanted to demonstrate the presence and meaning of these objects in daily life.

Two medals depict the calm, peaceful face of a newborn and Ama-san (the Japanese word for a Buddhist nun). I felt that both the meditative state of Ama-san and a sleeping baby express the transcending quality of the inner self.

The series of portrait drawings were transposed from original as well as reproduced works from old master paintings and drawings. I was looking to learn the technical proficiency of their skills.

Adachi was born with the skill to visually express his inner mind. The work in this exhibition clearly reflects this ability. This is the first one-person exhibition of Kazuhiro Adachi.
