Jong Shin makes his statements through figurative expression.

"My
devotion to traditional technique is important because I believe
this to be fundamental. I progress technically and intellectually
by studying not only the completed work of a diverse group of
artists, but the processes by which they achieve their outcome.
As I do so, I feel my work is enhanced creatively and technically,
and I am able to approach more profound concepts."
-Han
Jong Shin
In the exhibition, TRUE OR NOT, Shin creates mysterious atmospheres
through ordinarily non-artistic objects, as well as traditional
portraiture. The haunting imagery consists of subject matter
in which the viewer participates. The viewer is left to decide
whether the subject matter is veiled, or the veil itself is
the subject matter. |
